Concluding Remarks

As stated in the beginning, the purpose of this exhibit was to evaluate the accessibility of Charney Hall. Using a methodolgy based on users and visitors of this space, I argued how despite initial claims of transparency, many of Charney Hall's spaces are neither accessible nor transparent. Nevertheless, I would not go as far as to suggest that this design was meant to disparage visitors; it seems more reasonable that the space was designed for the privacy and comfort of its main users: law students and law faculty. And although Charney Hall is a magnificent building, it must be concluded that Charney Hall largely reinforces the notions of privilege and exclusivity. There is certainly a sense of dignity promoted by this space. But it is a dignity for only a few.
