King Philip's War:

Miles Burrello

This exhibit seeks to inform about one of the major conflicts between Native Americans and the British settlers in the US in the seventeenth century. Facing many challenges in the new world, the Puritans were shocked to find, after fifty years of peace, that they were now not welcome on Native American land, finding themselves attacked and embroiled in conflict with the Native tribes. King Philips' War occurred from 1675-1676, in the Eastern Colonies, between the settlers and the Native Americans. During this time, Mary Rowlandson was captured and proceeded to write her captivity narrative, spanning the months in which she was captured.

This exhibit uses waypoints to show the starting points of several battles in the conflict, as well as the place where Mary Rowlandson was attacked and captured.
