Tag along on the journey of a pirate from the 18th century!

This exhibit will explore the dynamics between pirates and general society, but also among pirates themselves of different races and nationalities. Through analyzing The History of Pirates as a book and as a text, you will also gain knowledge about how books were accrued during the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. This interactive board game will allow you to simulate what a journey on the ocean may have been like pirates such as Captain Mission. So go ahead, roll the die, and travel along the various destinations!

GOAL

Try to travel to the anchor, "Libertatia" (Captain Mission's settlement) within 5 tries. 

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Choose your character (Captain Mission or Captain Kidd) and start in "START" (London)
2. Start the generator by setting the "Min" to 1, and "Max" to 24, then click generate to recieve a number between 1 and 24
3. Match the number to the corresponding date on your timeline
   • If you rolled a "3", look for the year "1803" on the timeline 
   • If you rolled a "13", look for the year "1813" on the timeline
4. Click on the number and follow the instructions that pop up
   • Click on "3", says to move foward to the next location
   • If the instructions cannot be followed (eg. you're at START, and the instructions say to "go back 2 paces", you may roll for another number
5. Repeat steps 2-4 four more times until you have completed 5 turns in total

Congratulations! You have reached your final destination. Did you reach Libertatia?
