The Gradual Overturn

What's important to keep in mind is that there was not a single moment in which the legality of slavery was turned on its head. British slavery was a system that drew support from a number of distinct venues; it was because these venues stopped seeing slavery as a useful tool that support died down, eventually leaving the growing calls for abolition as the loudest in the room.

That being said, there were a couple of key events that prompted the downturn of slavery's popularity, and we will be viewing those events through the lenses of legality and religion, with some necessary overlap between the two.
