Excerpt from 'Recipe Book' which includes recipes titled 'Plum Cake,' 'Cure for a cough,' 'Ladies Delight,' and 'To Make Black Medicine.' A community effort across over 60 years, this unique receipt book was compiled by several women to provide a range of information on feeding and caring for families.--Bookseller's description. No title or attribution is present in the manuscript; title supplied by cataloger. A recipe written on the verso of a printed flyer with prices marked in pounds sterling suggests the contributors were in England. Dates are based on dated recipes. The earliest is marked 1822 and the latest 1886. The manuscript receipt or recipe book is comprised of 127 handwritten pages bound in. An additional 26 loose handwritten pages, some folded, are laid in at the front. The majority of recipes are written in the same hand. A few additions are in other hands. Several entries include the contributor's name. Some note the neighbor or family member. who provided them with the original recipe.
