Description
The Act enforced the constitutional right to vote, conferred jurisdiction upon the district courts of the United States, provided injunctive relief against discrimination in public accommodations, authorized the Attorney General to institute suits to protect constitutional rights in public facilities and public education, extended the Commission on Civil Rights, prevented discrimination in federally assisted programs, and established a Commission on Equal Employment Opportunity.
