Women cannery workers in the highly mechanized cannery of the 1930s. Workers take the fruit from the line, fill cans, and then put lids on the cans. Notice that the women wear white caps and uniforms, resembling nursing uniforms – part of the cannery’s effort to emphasize cleanliness and good health in canned fruit.
