by Cassi Bull
Hello everyone, welcome to my final intertextuality project on spiritual awakening/enlightenment through nature!
This exhibit starts off with Hayy Ibn Yaqzan, and then travels across space and time showcasing different stories of spiritual awakening, inspired by Hayy’s relationship with nature and the natural world.
There are a few things I would suggest in going through this exhibit:
Texts:
The four texts each have a different color corresponding to them:
Hayy Ibn Yaqzan-pink
Mahavastu- purple
Soseki poems- red
Wordsworth poems- light blue
Walden- green
The waypoints are sorted in chronological order, so feel free to go directly down the list or scroll through the timeline if you would like to look at the texts the order they were written. If you would prefer to go about it geographically, you can browse the map and find the different texts that way!
Sectioning:
Since there was a lot of information to fit into this exhibit, I separated each text into multiple sections. The “Introduction” waypoint for each text is the one that is linked to the location on the map and the timeline, so I would recommend reading those first, and then using the waypoints menu to go through the rest of the information on each text.
Map Layers:
As this is an exhibit on nature and natural beauty, I included Google Satellite view. I would recommend using this layer if you would like to see some of the nature our authors saw, especially on the more recent texts where there are more specific and accurate locations. To get a sense of where these texts are located around the world, I also included street view. This helped me contextualize everything in our geographical world, so I would recommend looking at it in a similar way when navigating the exhibit zoomed out/on a larger scale.
I hope you enjoy navigating this exhibit and learning about my research!
