Extremism

View Fullscreen

This exhibit attempts to show how extremism flourished under Donald Trump's presidency in the United States by using three texts, Kamila Shamsie's Home Fire, Mary Rowlandson's Captivity Narrative, and Kate Grenville's The Secret River. It looks at how extremism is portrayed in the texts, through extreme religious, political, and social contexts. These texts provide a backdrop of two major events occurring both during and after Trump's presidency. Interact with the map to see how extremism has manifested over the past four centuries and how it has become increasingly more common in American society.
