Pondicherry Printing Press

When researching this press I was exposed to the very complex history of British and French colonial interests, especially in the Indian subcontinent. In order to better understand this topic, I had to dig a bit into Indian history as well before the Europeans had established a foothold in the subcontinent. I also had to look into related topics such as the Austrian Succession, which explains why the British and French were at one point nice towards one another in India but later turned violently against each other, sealing the fate of my printing press. I tried my best to communicate this information through my exhibit as effectively as possible, and I hope it came across well!

In this exhibit, there are multiple waypoints that point to different records regarding the history of my press, the historical context surrounding the location and time period of the press, and the impact of the press along with some texts that were printed there. These can be either interacted with through the map, timeline, or the sidebar to the left of this paragraph.
