Sites of Mission Santa Clara

While the lands of Mission Santa Clara totaled over 80,000 acres at its height and some old adobe outbuildings remained the same for long periods, the actual Mission Church moved or was rebuilt several times due to disasters like flooding, earthquake, and fire. There have been five sites and six churches over the years.

Site 1: January 1777 - November 1779

Site 2: November 11, 1779 -  May 15, 1784 (temporary site)

Site 3: May 15, 1784 - December 1819

Site 4: December 1819 - August 10, 1825 (temporary site)

Site 5, 1st Church: August 11, 1825 - October 25, 1926

Interim Chapel: November 1926 - May 1928

Site 5, 2nd Church: May 13, 1928 - Present
