Alcatraz in San Francisco: The Alcatraz Receiving Depot and the End of the Occupation
The Alcatraz Occupation was not isolated to the island of Alcatraz. The efforts to keepup the occupation were multifarious a widespread throughout the Indians of All Tribes (IAT) organization and their affiliates. The Native occupiers set up a permanent supply outpost and resupply center at Pier 40, the former supply pier for Alcatraz before it was decomissioned as a prison. The supply post served the Alcatraz occupant well until the fatefull supply run on June 11th, 1971 whn suppliers would be ambushed at Pier 40 by federal agents and ultimately held in the Senator Hotel for questioning and a press conference debriefing the events of the past two years of occupation on Alcatraz.
