Why I chose this topic?

I chose this topic because I found it interesting just how much a person's status can impact how much power they had, especially in upstarting communities like the colonist community in New South Wales in the early 19th century. I wondered if the status someone had in these communities would matter in how much power they had as much as it matters in developed communities. In communities that are not advanced, is there really a high correlation between the status someone has and their power?
