Manifesto A La Republica Mejicana Que Hace El General De Brigada by Jose Figueroa:

All following information regarding the Manifesto is from the Bibliographical Society of America youtube video regarding the Zamorano.

  • The Manifesto was, to that point, the largest book printed on the press.
  • The Manifesto was written completely in Spanish
  • The Manifesto was printed on Italian handmade paper that was gathered as 49 unsigned bifolia and stab sewn together
  • It was originally bound in paper wrappers of various colors
  • It was a type: Small Pica No.1, Boston Type & Sterotype Foundry, MA
    • Which is important becasue it means that there were no accented letters necessary for Spanish words
    • "Printer accommodated the [ñ] by altering a [f] ligature
  • The manifesto also included an Errata which was essentially telling of some spelling mistakes/typological errors

This is an issue of the first newpaper in California from the Californian (Vol.1 No.1).
