The Roman Catholic Church
These images represent the Roman Catholic religion. The photo to the left is of St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City which is considered the central home of Catholicism. This is the residence of the Pope, the spiritual leader of all Catholics. The image on the right is of a rosary - a symbol of Catholic devotion. Most Italians identify as Catholic and it is an important cultural aspect of Italian life. Throughout her life, a strong religious foundation is what kept my great-grandmother hopeful during extremely difficult times.
