Jesuit's Roles and Jesuit Connections
Jesuits have long been connected because of the work that they have chosen to do with their life, but this is especially the case when it comes to education. Jesuit universities across the US have been able to form a network of schools that will lean on each other when they need support or help. This can be a simple as students today being able to look at Gonzaga's job website if they want to move to Spokane, but in 1989 this meant that many Jesuits went down to El Salvador to volunteer and help their brothers. This connection between the Jesuits is so vital to ensuring this education that they are looking to give their students, to encourage that culture of care for each other.
These connections also help to make sure that during times of crisis we have people that we can rely on and help. Jesuits all over the world are connected, as well as the students at Jesuit universities. When meeting people from other Jesuit universities there are always overlaps with our education, our values, and just the experiences that we have. There will always be that connection and when UCA was struggling, not only did SCU have priests go down to help, so did priests all over the world.
