Battle of Antietam

The Battle of Antietam that took place September 17, 1862 in Sharpsburg, Maryland, and is often referred to as the Bloodiest Battle of the Civil War. This battle resulted in a Union Victory, which provided President Abraham Lincoln the opportunity he had wanted to announce the Emancipation Proclamation, making the Battle of Antietam one of the key turning points of the American Civil War.
