"The Italian community donated approximately $1.5 million toward the project, said Linda Franke, director of Housing and Residence Life. The University will cover the rest of the cost, which will be paid back over the years through student rental of the rooms, said Franke. Construction of the hall should be completed around January and completion of the interior, by the summer. Students could move in next fall, said Franke. The community fundraising efforts, led by Murphy Sabatino, are in the process of raising $250,000 for the furnishings of Casa Italiana. Thirteen extra rooms were added to the original 50-room project."
