The Great Depression in the United States 1929-1939

Welcome to our exhibit. Here, we use a mix of multimedia sources to paint an interactive portrait of the worst economic downturn in modern history. We've decided to focus on how marginalized people were affected by the Great Depression, particularly in the United States. Our discussion of these communities spans from 1920, at the start of the increasing national debt, to the end of Roosevelt’s New Deal program in 1939. As we cover topics such as debt deflation, redlining, discrimination in employment, among others, we hope to represent the experiences of the communities whose voices often go unheard. Thanks for visiting our site!
