Research Question:

How did the United States government in conjunction with the Office of War Information try to use Hollywood to advance their pro-war agenda?

What is the Office of War Information? The Office of War Information was a board that was formed during World War II in the United States. The goal of the OWI was to communicate all wartime information to the public. They made many posters and films that boosted the overall emotions and morale of the American people. The goal was for the American people to feel patriotic for their country, and instill fear and distaste towards enemies (Koppes).

This project uses the timeframe 1941 through 1945 in America. The main goal of this page is to include various films and posters made during World War II. Based on the material published from 1941 to 1945, the page will show how the public eye in America viewed the war in four various categories: fear, patriotism, food and waste rationing, and the evolving role of women.
