Food and Waste Rationing

The posters above show how the Office of War Information had a clear conservation goal, which was seen through Hollywood's content. Using popular characters to promote this message made the idea stay in the viewer's heads, and most likely had them follow these recommendations (Fyne). This is especially seen in "Get in the Scrap" and in the cartoon Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Firing Lane below. Both the OWI's poster and Disney's cartoon tie Pluto, a well-known Disney character, into the idea that waste and scraps should be conserved to help the war effort.

The two videos below, Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Firing Lane and Point Rationing of Foods, represent the OWI's goal of waste conservation and how that is then represented in a cartoon. The OWI is successful at inputting messages into Disney's media because it ties humor and fun with the message; it's delivered very seamlessly (Fyne)Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Firing Lane solidifies its message by giving facts as to how many bullets and rounds of emission can be made if people save waste fats. Enough to wrap around the Earth several times, according to the video.
