Legacy

Below is a map showing some notable moments in the Black Power movement. It is primarily focused on the Black Panther Party (with emphasis on Oakland) and is far from comprehensive. It is meant to give a small insight into the movement and show some lesser known events. The pinpoints that are red instead of blue show contemporary events. 

The legacy of change and revolution carries on in the Black Lives Matter Movement. This of demands is strikingly similar to the Ten Points created by the Black Panther Party. There are more contemporary issues listed by BLM but we see that the same struggles that the Party fought continue to today. Again we see the threat that police brutality poses for the black community as a whole. This new generation has many of the same goals and uses similar confrontational methods alongside community organizing to challenge racism and white supremacy.
