Soviet Weapons

The Goal of this Project:

Welcome to the landing page of the “Soviet Weaponry” portion of this exhibition. Throughout this section, we will aim to explain the cold war mindset, the lesser-known stories and string together a comprehensive outlook on how the developments of these soviet feats of engineering contributed to the development of the cold war. In this project, I have also chosen to avoid the more commonly talked about events like the "Cuban missile crisis" in order to shine a light on the lesser-known stories of these niche cold war weapons.

In this portion, I will cover 3 pieces of engineering of the USSR era: the T-64 main battle tank (MBT), the 2B1 Oka nuclear artillery, and the Mikoyan MIG-25 Foxbat supersonic interceptor jet. Then through the lenses of these weapons, I will seek to answer the question of "What is the Cold War mindset" and "How did this mindset lead to the development of the cold war."

I recommend you to examine the exhibits in this order as it strings together a comprehensive narrative, but you can look at each exhibit individually for just the information and the fact sheet. Also just a note, all of the images on the "Fact Sheet" tab of each weapon is interactive, hover your mouse over it to see extra information.
