When most people talk about Soviet engineering, their minds immediately goes to three words: “quantity over quality”.  Well, the first half is correct, as during the cold war, the Soviet Union built in total over 100 thousand tanks according to Tanks Encyclopedia, and that’s only counting major the Main Battle Tanks (the T-54, T-55, T-62, T64, T-72 and T80) while omitting the heavy tanks, light tanks, and infantry fighting vehicles. But unbeknownst to many, during the 1960s, many of the soviet tanks are also superior in quality in comparison with the western tanks.
