The Deterrence Tactics

The Overspills of the Cold-war mindset ---- its everlasting presence

The quote from the Planning future defense: Time to confront the Cold War mindset, “The future we face is not different, but uncertain ---- more uncertain, in more ways, than any we have faced in several decades.” This was a comment on the US Congress and their decision after the dissolution of the USSR. The showdown on the military front is a fight of fears, as it explains the cold war mindset of meticulous planning into the future and a continual dump of resources into the military aspects of a country. This is the cold war mindset, the fear of the rival’s preparations, and the over-preparing in the use of “deterrence tactics”, tactics focused on deterring the adversary from attacking you in the first place out of fear. These are the tactics that have driven the world ever so close to brinkmanship.
