Nurse's Stories

Excerpts from nurses stationed at the Navy Hospital in Pearl Harbor and on the USS Solace on the day of the attack. There were three main places US Navy nurses were stationed the morning of the attack. The Navy Hospital at Pearl Harbor, the Hickam Field Hospital, and the USS Solace. Two of the stories below are from navy nurses at the Navy Hospital and the third story is of a nurse onboard the USS Solace. There is more information on the following page about a nurse stationed at Hickam Field. All of these heroic memoirs are from Diane Fessler's No time for fear:voices of American military nurses in World War II.
